Don't know if this is the right place to post this or not? When I try to start it it just jumps back to the springboard. Have uninstalled Cydia and then reinstalled it via mobile terminal and the problem is still there. Also used DevTeam ultrasn0w jailbreak to rejailbreak and install Cydia after removing it with mobile terminal.

All with the same problem. All of the Apps installed by Cydia work fine. MiWi seems to work fine also. Have not used it for extended period of time though. Am at a loss as to what is going on.

It is on a new 3gs phone. Rock was installed with Cydia. MiWi was installed with Rock. No other apps were installed after this. Has anyone else had problems with Cydia after installing Rock or MiWi on a 3gs phone? Jim K. Originally Posted by MikePA. Mista Brothason. Come correct. First off, the app MyWi has a termendous amount of promise! It looks like they did great work and it once they tackle a few minor things like disconnect times, the application should be complete.

However, I am perplexed at the lack of direct response and vague answers about data usage and carrier detection. It appears that we have developers directly in this forum, but they either don't care to take the time to answer the simple question about usage or they just don't know how their own app works.

There are multiple wireless profiles that cellular carriers use. Some offer proxied or re-encoded access to sites for minimal data usage often on low end handsets , some use standard access and expect moderate usage and throughput like Smartphones, and even still other profiles are intended for high throughput and usage like tethering USB dongles. Each of these are predefined APN's. If you're subscribed to a data plan and accidentally modify your APN, you may still be charged ala carte usage per KB since you didn't use the APN you are subscribed to.

Hence, the need to verify where what APN the application is routing our data through. Last thing we want is to have people end up with exorbitant fees that they aren't expecting.

I understand there is a disclaimer about subscribing to tether when starting the app which is all well and good. We just need to understand what exactly the app is doing. Thanks again for this app! Hopefully, we will all be able to use it safely. Yet another app I would really like to pay for and use but will not be doing so due to ridiculous RockApp restrictions.

I read somewhere that some dude got totally owned by a dude who explained how there wasnt a softcap on our data plans because its not in our contract, only on the laptop data plans. Anyone know? Thanks guys, Cheers! Like 0. No some 2gb people said they did too, this thread and on other sites are so big with so many fights between the highly righteous condemning tether's and the the tether's fighting back that the real info gets lost.

Trooper Sam. This seems to make sense. Originally Posted by cldipad. I wonder if that's why we don't see many posts from people getting caught who used TetherMe. Thanks for the post. I know alot of you folks dont condone this action but thats what ima do. I did about 40gb this cycle just to experiment what will happen, so ill probably be getting the TOD very soon hahahahah. But thats why i did it, just to test the waters and see what pops up.

Ill post my updates here to keep the community on page with my situation. LOL seriously how many use the app? Hopefully, colin and others could chip in here. Macrumors forums also seem to be thinking that TTL detection is part of the problem as well, but that is less clear.

It seems like some Tetherme and new-version PDAnet users are getting notices, but for the most part, not nearly in the same quantities as MyWi users. Those of you still getting notices - are you doing anything that clearly is NOT being done on an iphone, such as updating your PC, torrenting, or using iTunes while tethered?

Those of you NOT getting notices - are you sticking to webpages and apps that don't use iPad exclusive features? Perhaps responders could use this format? Am I missing something here? I would guess not - I can't see any fourth possible way they could ID the tethering. I'll be happy to throw in my info if it will help! Usage: Just some emails and basic web surfing. I only tether when I have no other means of accessing the internet. As a result, I only tether once every months on average.

Received first notice with I MyWi. For the past few weeks I've used the following Called and had flag removed. Tether usage - email, web, YouTube, mp3's. Have connected to iTunes while tethered. Tethering device - win vista pc, xbox for browsing and updates.

Data plan - unlimited. No public jailbreak means no way to change the iPad 2 TTL, right? Like many on this thread, I'm very reluctant to tether again without covering every angle first. Only when needed. Basic surfing and web pages Unlimited Plan-Never gone over 2. Originally Posted by Dragonsoul Hey buddy , how's tetherme working out for u?
