There are also a few JDM imports around but make sure there is a service history to go along with it. If you do find an example that is free from modifications, with low miles and no rust, the chances are that it will be an automatic.
Manual UK-market cars in this condition are exceptionally rare. It is relatively easy to liberate bhp from a standard engine and many will have been remapped to take advantage of this. Blown gaskets are common and if there is excessive blue smoke and oil leaking from the turbo manifold this may mean that the turbocharger unit itself has blown.
Blown turbo gaskets can also make the car sound very noisy at idle. While this might be beneficial to performance and the life of your turbocharger, passing an MoT might be a little tricky. Giving the car a thorough visual inspection is vital to ensure all of the panels line up, although having a specialist check the underside for signs of previous accident damage could be worthwhile.
Sills should be prodded, while getting the car up on a ramp to check the floorpan is worth the effort. Expect some minor corrosion — even on good cars — but repairs to anything more serious should be factored into your purchase price.
One model offered in coupe body style with bhp 2. Five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox options offered. Changes include a more aggressive frontal treatment and detail mechanical updates. The used SX market can be divided into standard very rare , modified and totally transformed categories. This is true only way you could possibly get cheaper insurance for the ADM is if you have no mods performance mods or next to no mods and go with a company that doesn't insure imports.
But since most people buying an s15 are definitely gonna get an exhaust and get a boost controller then the options are pretty much the same and if there is a company that will insure your modded ADM that won't insure the JDM s15 it'll likely be more expensive then your usual Shanons and Just Car insurance places. Remembering that basically all the body pannels are the same and they are essentially the same car with very minor differences. At the end of the day from a performance point of view if you are going to be doing even minor modifications the benefits of a JDM S15 quickly are negated.
I would take a ADM S15 any day over a Jap spec You do realise there are many many insurance companies that will flat out refuse to insure an import doesn't matter if it's basically pretty much the same as an aussie delivered car. I reckon you could even get away with insuring a stock ADM s15 with companies like Budget direct but you would guaranteed need to be over 25 possibly even over 30 before they would consider it but try the same with a JDM and as soon as you mention import they will laugh at you.
I could only get 3rd party from most places with my JDM. Purely for the rear wiper and digital climate control, I would choose JDM. Digital climate control and the rear bumper i definitely agree with as well as with the pillar mounted boost gauge is pretty nice although still defectable. Difference between Spec S and Spec R on top of my head - rear wing - 6 stacker cd - side skirt - badges obviously The Jap spec S didn't pass the australia's power to weight ratio so it was banned. Nissan aus just dump the turbo to the spec s as well. Good question. There's to many differences. I think they are basically same car but the audm Spec R just has more accessories. I was told the extra weight was from the accessories such as cd stacker, sunroof and side skirt.
God knows. Does anyone you know have a Spec-S Ichi-go? Ireland Country. Jp, don't make me slap you. Those seats :hurl:. JP do u kno ne1 importin from down under r wud u just do it all urself. Only evr c jap import places. They're bhp as standard.
